Meet Nicoly Y Myles

Nicoly Myles was birthed in Indianapolis, In. and later moved to Kennesaw, Ga. where she attended high school. She received her undergraduate degree from Kennesaw State University, her Master's in Education from Central Michigan, and her Doctorate in Education with a concentration in Higher Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

Myles honestly believes she was "placed" in education. Her undergraduate degree was actually in International Affairs. She planned to work in the international business field but was unable to secure a job in that field after graduating. She was however able to secure a job as an administrative assistant at Southern Polytechnic State University after three months of job seeking. She held that position for two years and enjoyed it so much that she decided to remain in the higher education field. She currently serves as the Summer Bridge Program Director at Kennesaw State University.

Myles typically works from 9am-6pm Monday through Thursday and 8am-5pm on Friday. She was aware when she began that her hours were likely to exceed those time frames but she says she enjoys every minute of it.

She feels that communication has a significant impact on her success. On a daily basis she communicates with senior administrators, faculty, staff, current students, prospective students, and the parents of prospective students as well. When she is not communicating with that group of people, she communicates with the general public. Myles takes pride in being an efficient and effective communicator.

Apart from her communication skills, Myles believes that her personality and work ethic are what continue to propel her forward. She says she thoroughly enjoys her job and that her enjoyment is evident to those she interacts with.

Though she loves her job, five years from now Myles hopes to be Department Chair of a retention/first-year unit at the university level and within ten years she would like to be the Vice President or Associate Vice President of Student Success Programs at the university level.

When she isn't working, Myles enjoys shopping, spending time with family and friends, enjoying the arts, and traveling.
